Simon Smith

Chief Strategist

Simon Smith, BJourn, MA

Over the past decade, Simon has created online communication and marketing solutions for brands including Enbridge Gas Distribution, Rogers Communications, Bayer and Pfizer. Before Commune, he was Associate Creative Director for Excerpta Medica Interactive, a division of Elsevier, where he developed and implemented interactive marketing strategies for the pharmaceutical industry and online business strategies for Elsevier's repository of 2,000 journals and 17,000 books. Simon also founded and for several years ran sci-tech website Betterhumans.com, now run by the international nonprofit organization Humanity+.

With a Bachelor of Journalism from Ryerson University and a Master of Arts in the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology from the University of Toronto, Simon is also a Google Analytics Qualified Individual and a Google AdWords Certified Professional.

An award-winning writer and graduate of Ryerson University's prestigious two-year journalism program, Sara brings a decade's worth of experience in teaching, publishing and sales to her strategic work at Commune—combining a journalist's devotion to research with a writer's sense of character and a salesperson's passion for results. She has launched compelling campaigns for clients in industries ranging from pharmaceuticals to IT to executive coaching. Sara is a Google AdWords Certified Professional and a Google Analytics Qualified Individual.

Pramesh Attwala

Creative and Technical Director

Pramesh Attwala

Pramesh brings over a decade's worth of design and development experience to Commune. After completing a Bachelor of Computer Science at Ryerson University, Pramesh went on to hone his craft as an expert in web technologies, spending two years in the financial sector developing client-facing web applications.

Transitioning to new media, Pramesh worked at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation for six years as an Interactive Producer, producing interactive media extensions for CBC Television's prime time arts and entertainment properties. The experience at CBC allowed Pramesh to expand his breadth of expertise to include graphic design, video production and audio engineering.

Pramesh is an avid photographer, showing his work in a number of exhibits including the 2006 and 2007 CONTACT Toronto Photography Festival. He has also spoken at the 2008 Toronto Tech Week Conference on the future of online video.

George Dvorsky

Director of Operations

George Dvorsky

Prior to joining Commune, George managed operations for leading information technology and marketing companies in the Greater Toronto Area, where his responsibilities included the coordination of support, consulting and implementation services throughout the GTA. George brings over 10 years' experience in media, arts and communications—including through his work as a leading Canadian futurist, activist and award-winning blogger.

George, who has written and spoken extensively about the impacts of cutting-edge science and technology, has contributed to various Thomson & Gale university texts and such publications as The Humanist and Canadian Freethinker. George has also contributed through interviews to such outlets as The Guardian, the BBC, Radio Free Europe, and Beliefnet. George has also appeared on CBC's The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos and has been profiled in Flare, NOW and This magazines.

Apart from overseeing operations with Commune, George currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies and Humanity+, where, among other duties, he provides guidance on communication and marketing . George was also the organizing chair for TransVision 2004, an international conference addressing the scientific, political and social issues surrounding human biotechnology.

Jebadiah Roberts

Jebadiah Roberts, MA

With a master's from the University of Toronto's Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology and a postgraduate certificate in publishing, Jebadiah went from managing the editorial stages of academic books and journals at U of T Press to editing and writing for mainstream health and fitness publications like Maximum Fitness, Oxygen and MuscleMag. At Commune, he uses his background in publishing to oversee the creation of high-quality content, which he insists is the most overlooked ingredient in online marketing. Jebadiah is a Google AdWords Certified Professional and a Google Analytics Qualified Individual.
